Emory Fairchild
Research Assistant
UConn School of Social Work
Emory Fairchild, a first year master’s student in UConn’s Social Work program, is a research assistant on our team. During her undergraduate studies at Springfield College, Emory worked as a research assistant investigating bias incidents and interventions at her institution, as well as the development of racial and gender identity of children in Connecticut.
Emory’s passion for mental wellness and social justice has led her to this work. She is looking forward to building connections with the community, and learning from them what would be effective interventions for challenges they experience. Understanding the disparities present in mental health issues and services for underrepresented groups, Emory feels strongly about contributing to both individual and structural change that will enhance the mental wellness of all of America’s youth.
Emory plans to become a licensed clinical social worker who empowers children and teens from marginalized and oppressed communities to develop loving self-identities, through holistic practices. Therefore, Emory values the present research, as it will be critical for practitioners like herself to provide meaningful care to clients.
