Maritza Vasquez Reyes

Maritza Vasquez Reyes is a native of the Dominican Republic. She graduated with a bachelor degree in Social Work and Sociology at the Pontifical University “Mater et Magistra” in Santiago, Dominican Republic, where she later worked as a member of an international applied research project on the prevention of drug abuse. While living in the Dominican Republic, Maritza engaged in community building and social justice efforts that shaped her research interests in ethnic and minority populations; economic and social justice; poverty and inequality issues and policies; community organizing and social change; and international social work.
Since 2001, Maritza worked as a Medical Social Worker and Case Manager for 12 years at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. She is an adjunct instructor at Dutchess Community College Behavioral Sciences Department and is currently a PhD student, research and teaching assistant at UConn’s School of Social Work.
